About Dr. Suzanne Kuchel

Learn more about the way I support clients through change, stress, and growth.

Background

Hi, I’m Dr. Suzanne Kuchel. I enjoy staying active however I can and love dogs, gardening, and science-fiction. I completed my PhD in Counseling Psychology at McGill University in 2000 and have since worked in university counseling centers, hospitals, corporate wellness, and private practice. I am licensed in New Hampshire and certified as a PsyPACT provider, which allows me to work virtually with clients in most states. I am also a National Board Certified Health & Wellness Coach (NBC-HWC) and certified personal and executive coach. I help individuals, couples, and groups navigate transitions, reduce stress, and reconnect with meaning and purpose. See whether you are in a participating PsyPACT state.

For Starters

I welcome diversity in all forms, including all races, ethnicities, sexual orientations, gender identities and neurotypes. I maintain an LGBTQ+ affirming practice where your authentic self is not only accepted, but respected and celebrated.

With over 20 years of experience, I offer a compassionate, evidence-based approach rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Positive Psychology. Together, we focus on what’s strong, not just what’s wrong.

How I Can Help

  • Feeling overwhelmed or stuck
  • Struggling with work-life balance or burnout
  • Managing organizational change
  • Navigating challenging relationships and other stressors
  • Looking to reduce anxiety or lift mood
  • Seeking clarity and meaningful change

The therapy I provide is much like coaching; it is a collaborative process. I’ll work with you to clarify your goals, uncover your strengths, and move forward with confidence.

My Approach

My approach is integrative, personalized, and rooted in science. I combine the best of traditional psychological practices with emerging insights from neuroscience and positive psychology to support lasting, meaningful change.

Evidence-Based Methods

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): Helps identify and shift unhelpful thoughts and behaviors through structured strategies and practical tools.
  • Mindfulness: Cultivates presence, reduces stress, and builds emotional resilience through present-moment awareness.
  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT): Encourages acceptance of difficult emotions while promoting actions aligned with your core values.

Strengths-Based and Coaching-Informed

Rather than focusing solely on symptoms or diagnoses, we build on strengths. My approach draws from Positive Psychology and Coaching Psychology to help you clarify goals, identify strengths, and move forward with purpose. This facilitates a flexible and integrative approach that supports resilience and insight—in therapy, coaching and beyond.

Neuroscience-Informed Practice

As someone with a background in neuropsychology, I incorporate the latest neuroscience research into our work together. This includes strategies that support emotional regulation, cognitive flexibility, and long-term well-being—grounding our work in how the brain learns, adapts, and grows.

Emotional Intelligence (EQ) Tools

I’m certified in EQ-i 2.0 and EQ 360, industry-leading emotional intelligence assessments. These tools offer insight into self-awareness, interpersonal skills, decision-making, and stress tolerance—often helping clients better understand their emotional landscape and how to navigate personal and organizational challenges with greater clarity.

A Collaborative Process

Ultimately, therapy is a partnership. We’ll explore your challenges, define your goals, and build the tools you need to move forward confidently. My aim is to help you become your own therapist—equipped to meet life’s challenges with clarity, compassion, and purpose.
