Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions about my services and the therapy process.

General Questions

What should I expect during my first session?

The intake appointment is an opportunity to discuss your concerns, goals, and background. It is a chance for us to get to know each other and determine whether I am the right person to help you.

How long are therapy sessions?

Most sessions last about 45 minutes, though the intake meeting might take the full hour.

How often should I attend therapy?

This depends on your needs and goals. Many clients start with weekly sessions and adjust frequency as progress is made.

Insurance and Payment

Do you accept insurance?

I no longer accept insurance. However, I do partner with Lyra Health, an evidence-based EAP. If you or a family member works for a company that uses Lyra Health, you may be eligible for some coverage.

Can I seek reimbursement through my insurance provider?

Yes. If you have out-of-network benefits, I can provide the information you may need to submit for possible reimbursement through your insurance provider.

How does payment work?

Payment is typically due at the time of service. Feel free to reach out with any questions about rates, payment, or documentation for reimbursement.

Privacy and Confidentiality

Is therapy confidential?

Yes, all communications between you and your therapist are confidential, with very limited exceptions required by law, such as risk of harm to self or others.

What about telehealth privacy?

Doxy.me is used for telehealth sessions and provides a HIPAA-compliant platform to support your privacy.

Telehealth

Do you offer virtual sessions?

Yes. Telehealth sessions are available through Doxy.me for clients who prefer or need virtual care.

What do I need for telehealth?

A computer, tablet, or smartphone with internet access and a webcam. I will provide instructions for setting up your first session.
